Farmlync words and record types

Use this page when a form, work card or report uses a term you do not know. The linked guide explains the controls and exceptions for that feature. A record described as planned, due, predicted or estimated is different from an event that someone actually saved.

Where records belong

Word	Meaning in Farmlync
Account	The person who signs in. An account can exist before it has an organisation. Your account.
Organisation / tenant	The business account that holds farms, people, billing and organisation settings. It is different from the directory account used for sign-in. Organisation setup.
Farm	The operational site selected in the Farm portal. Animal, stock and daily records are entered for a farm. Check the selected farm before saving. Choose a farm.
Global library	Shared starting definitions, such as diseases or products, maintained by the platform. A library item is not automatically present on every farm. Adopt from the library.
Farm catalog item	A disease, protocol or product made available for a particular farm. Adding a product definition does not receive a physical quantity. Products.
Herd	A broad operational population within a farm. Farmlync’s normal working scope is the selected farm; herd context can further narrow features that support it.
Pen	A physical housing location, such as a barn pen, paddock or calving shed. Assigning a pen records where an animal is housed; it does not automatically add the animal to every management group associated with that location. Pens.
Group	A dated management grouping used to organise animals for work and feeding. Check active membership and effective dates before using a group in a decision. Groups.
Role and farm access	Permissions assigned to a person for an organisation or named farms. Seeing a farm name or receiving an invite does not itself grant every action. People and access.

People and access

Word	Meaning in Farmlync
Tenant Admin	An organisation administrator who manages organisation settings, farms, people, billing and other tenant-wide controls. Farm-specific actions still use the selected farm and the permissions shown in Farmlync.
Owner / Manager / Worker / Vet	Farm roles. Owners and Managers can manage more farm setup and records; Workers and Vets see the pages and actions allowed for their duties. The exact menu is calculated from current access, farm type, enabled modules and plan. Role matrix.
Platform Admin	A Farmlync system administrator who can administer customer organisations and platform configuration. Selecting an organisation or farm is still required before acting in that customer’s scope.
Support agent	A Farmlync staff member who acts as themselves through a recorded support case and the customer’s saved permission or approval. Support never needs the customer’s password. Support access.
Support case / visit	A case identifies the customer issue; a visit is the time-bounded support access used to investigate it. An edit approval can add the permitted correction scope for that case. Ending or revoking access stops the visit.

Animals and daily work

Word	Meaning in Farmlync
Farm tag	The farm’s tag number used to find an animal. National ID is a separate official identifier where recorded. Verify both before a regulated action. Register an animal.
Work card / due job	A prompt calculated from saved records, schedules or alerts. Opening, deferring or finishing a work session does not automatically create the underlying clinical or production record. Work board.
Execution mode	A stable list of due jobs for one work session, with direct recording, batch and defer actions. Review its completion summary before leaving. Execution mode.
Batch action	One form applied to several selected animals or records. Shared values must be true for every selected item. Always read per-item results because some rows can succeed while others fail. Animal selection.
Alert	A notice raised by a rule or recorded event. Acknowledging it manages the notice; it does not correct the animal, stock or feeding record that caused it. Alerts.
Calendar event	A dated view of recorded or expected farm work. A future date can be a prediction or due date, not evidence that the work happened. Calendar.
Cull candidate	An animal shown for review by recorded signals or a decision list. A candidate is not a sale or departure. Cull review.

Breeding, health and milk

Word	Meaning in Farmlync
Heat observation	A recorded sign of oestrus; it does not record a service or prove pregnancy. Record heat.
Service	A saved breeding or insemination event for an animal and date. Its later outcome can be pending, conceived or failed; recording the service is not a positive pregnancy result. Record service.
Pregnancy diagnosis / PD	A recorded examination and result. It updates the reproductive history used by due work and predictions. Record a check.
Fertility protocol	A saved schedule of breeding actions. Assigning a plan does not prove that each step was performed. Fertility protocols.
Treatment	A clinical record of care or medicine administered to an animal. A product definition or stock purchase alone is not a treatment. Record treatment.
Vaccination protocol	A schedule for future vaccination work. A vaccination event must be recorded separately when it is actually given. Vaccination protocols and record vaccination.
Withdrawal / hold	A restriction that keeps affected milk or meat from normal dispatch after treatment. A predicted end date is not always final clearance; check the animal’s current status and required evidence. Withdrawal follow-up.
Lactation / days in milk (DIM)	A cow’s milk-producing period after calving, and the number of farm-local days since its start. Reports may use different averages across DIM or only recorded milk days. Lactation reports.
Milk session / individual recording	One animal’s saved yield for a milking session. A planned session or a batch form that has not been submitted is not a saved recording. Record milk.
Tank collection	Milk dispatched or collected from the tank, recorded separately from individual cow milk yields. Compare collection, destination and safety evidence before reconciliation. Collections and safety.
Milk test	Measured quality data such as fat, protein or SCC attached to the relevant milk record. Missing test data must not be read as a zero result. Milk tests.

Feed, stock and results

Word	Meaning in Farmlync
Ration	A saved recipe of feed ingredients and amounts. It is a plan, not proof that a pen or animal ate it. Rations and plans.
Feed plan	A ration assigned to a pen for dates and feeding frequency. A real feeding event records what was actually given. Plan and record feed.
Stock batch / lot	A physical receipt of a product with its quantity, supplier, identifier and expiry where available. The same catalog product can have several batches. Receive stock.
Stock on hand	Recorded balance after receipts and stock movements. A catalog item alone has no on-hand stock; an expired batch is not disposed merely because the date passed. Stock lists.
Stock movement	An auditable quantity change such as receipt, consumption, adjustment, transfer, disposal or return. It explains a balance change; it is not another product or batch. Stock movements.
Sire and straw batch	A sire is the breeding identity; a straw batch is a separately counted physical semen supply. Semen stock.
Reconciliation	A comparison between records that should agree, such as farm milk and buyer deliveries or Farmlync animals and a government registry. A difference requires investigation; reconciliation does not invent the missing source event.
Accepted / applied / retained vendor record	Accepted means Farmlync admitted the source row. Applied to workflows means it changed a supported farm workflow. Retained only means it was stored as valid vendor evidence without changing an operational workflow. Vendor import.
Mapping issue / quarantined vendor record	A mapping issue needs an animal match. A quarantined record was isolated because Farmlync could not safely apply it. Resolve the stated cause rather than importing the row repeatedly.
Report period	The farm-local dates and filters used to select source records. Confirm whether a report filters a receipt date, event date or current state before comparing it with another report. Browse reports.
FQL / Herd Queries	A structured way to ask for authorised herd counts, trends and breakdowns from Farmlync records. The query result is based on selected scope and data, not an event you have saved. FQL reference.
