Hoof trims

What this page helps you do

Health → Hoof trims keeps a dated record of hoof-care work and, where entered, the next trim due. It helps you compare a lameness score before and after a trim and find follow-up work. A hoof-trim record does not itself record a medicine treatment; use the treatment form if medicine was administered.

Find records and upcoming work

The list initially shows the farm’s last 90 days. Change From and To to inspect a period, choose Show all to remove that default window, or use Clear filters to return to it. The list has 20 records per page. A link into this page can turn on a due soon view: it shows each animal’s latest saved hoof-care schedule whose next due date is within 30 days, including overdue dates. Choose Show all hoof records to leave that view. This is based on dates already recorded; it does not create an appointment or confirm that the trim happened.

The desktop table shows Date, Animal (link to the animal), Condition, Affected Hooves, Lameness Before, Lameness After, whether the trim was Corrective, and Next Due. A dash means that optional detail was not recorded. On mobile, open a card for its additional details and actions. If no rows appear, clear filters before assuming there are no hoof records; if loading fails, use the retry control.

Record a hoof trim

Choose Record Hoof Trim. The panel asks for:

Control	What to enter
Animal	Required animal actually trimmed. When opened from an animal record, this can be preselected and locked.
Trim Date	Required farm-local date the work was done; defaults to today.
Hoof Condition	Required choice from Normal, Overgrown, Cracked, Infected, Laminitis, Sole Ulcer or White Line Disease. Use the condition observed, rather than inferring it from a future due date.
Affected Hooves	Optional short description such as LF, RR, at most 20 characters.
Lameness Score Before, After	Optional score from 1 to 5 for each point in time. The number fields step by one. Leave a score blank if it was not assessed.
Is Corrective Trim	Select when the trim treated an identified hoof problem; leave clear for routine care.
Next Trim Due	Optional follow-up date, which must be after Trim Date. This is what feeds the due-soon view.
Performed by	Optional trimmer role and person. If a role is selected, identify the person; the picker can use a matching farm user or saved Vet party.
Notes	Optional context, at most 1,000 characters.

Choose Save Hoof Trim and wait for the success message. Cancel closes without saving. An error shown inside the form means the record was not confirmed; review it before retrying. Reopen the list or animal history to verify the correct animal, date and next due date.

Correct and review history

Use a record’s Correct action to change a saved entry. Its animal cannot be changed. Enter Reason for correction in 5–500 characters, review the fields and choose Save Correction. If another person changed the record since you opened it, reload and review the current version before retrying. Use History to see prior values and the correction trail. Do not create a duplicate trim just to fix a mistaken score or date.
