Organisation settings — every control

Admin → Settings (headed Tenant Settings in the application) holds the defaults shared by your organisation. Set these before a large animal import, milk recording or daily-work rollout. Any signed-in organisation user can read the page; saving requires Tenant Admin or Platform Admin access. View settings history appears to those administrators and opens the audit log filtered to TenantSettings changes.

The form has Localization, Livestock Defaults, Operations, Animal identification and Modules sections. Existing values load into the form; changing a control does nothing until Save Settings succeeds. A preview headed After these changes are saved describes affected work. Discard changes restores the last loaded saved values. Save is unavailable when nothing changed.

Control Choose or enter Why it matters
Weight Unit Kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb). Weight display and reports.
Volume Unit Liters or gallons. Volume display. This is separate from Milk Unit.
Temperature Unit Celsius (C) or Fahrenheit (F). Temperature display.
Date Format DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. Date presentation; do not guess the order when reading a report.
Time Format 24h or 12h. Time presentation.
Currency USD, EUR, GBP, INR, AUD, CAD, BRL, JPY, CNY, AED, KES, NZD or ZAR. Formats monetary amounts in the organisation. It does not convert historic transaction currency amounts.
Language English (India), Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, English, English (UK), English (US), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic or Chinese. Stores the locale used for number and currency formatting. It does not currently translate every Farmlync screen into the chosen language.
Timezone Search by country, city or IANA timezone and choose a result. Stores the organisation timezone. It does not change an existing farm’s timezone; check and edit each farm separately before date-sensitive work.
Milk Unit Liters or kilograms (kg). A Litres option is also visible, but the current save path rejects it; use Liters until this is corrected. Unit used to interpret new milk writes and converted display. Changing it after external or mobile sync clients have queued records can misinterpret those unsent values.
Milk Density (kg/L) Decimal 0.95–1.10; initial value 1.030. Litre-to-kilogram conversion for milk. Review it with the operation’s measurement policy rather than copying another farm’s value.

If you change Milk Unit, a confirmation asks you to bring synchronising clients up to date first. Cancel and resolve queued records if unsure. The web portal does not itself queue offline milk writes, but external or field clients may. A currency selection changes formatting; do not treat it as a foreign-exchange conversion.

These numbers are organisation-wide defaults. The farm can override them in its own breeding settings. Use whole numbers within the accepted range:

Control Accepted value What it informs
Gestation Period (days) 200–400; initial 280. Expected calving date and related breeding forecasts.
Voluntary Waiting Period (days) 0–120; initial 45. Wait after calving before re-breeding.
Dry Period (days) 0–120; initial 60. Planned pre-calving period without milking.
Calf to Heifer Age (months) 1–24; initial 6. Age used in lifecycle classification.
Default Lactation Length (days) 100–500; initial 305. Standard lactation-period calculations.
Heat Interval (days) 15–30; initial 21. Expected spacing between heats.
Days-Open Threshold (days) 30–365; initial 150. Flagging a cow that remains open after calving.
Services per Conception (target) 1–10; initial 3. Flagging animals beyond the target service count.

The form’s After these changes are saved preview warns that breeding, lifecycle and production forecasts or work can change. It does not rewrite recorded clinical events. Check farm-specific overrides before assuming one organisation value governs every farm.

Record Void Window (hours) accepts 0–168. It governs how long after creation an eligible treatment or vaccination can be voided. 0 disables that void option; the initial form value is 24 hours. A void can reverse stock and withdrawal effects, so use the correction workflow and its evidence rather than treating this setting as permission to erase records.

National ID label is required and at most 60 characters. It replaces the displayed “National ID” wording on animal forms, lists and reports, for example with a local registry name. Require National ID sets the organisation default for registration, edit, bulk intake, CSV import and calving. A farm can override the requirement in its Farm Settings. Before turning it on for existing workflows, check the farm’s identifier policy and incomplete import files; changing the label alone does not populate missing IDs.

Each switch is labelled with the feature it controls. An on switch keeps that module visible; turning it off adds it to the disabled-modules list, removes its navigation and blocks that module’s tenant API endpoints. The page offers:

Switch When to keep it on
Milk Payout The farm uses buyer routes, deliveries, payout formulas or reconciliation.
Webhooks The organisation sends signed farm events to external software.
AI Assistant (Ask Farmlync) The organisation uses the assistant and its plan permits the feature. The switch alone does not grant a missing plan entitlement.

Turning a module off does not delete its records. Review who relies on the feature and any external connection before hiding it. The preview names Module access when these switches change.

Select Save Settings after reviewing the preview. A successful save shows Settings updated successfully; reopen the form or affected farm screen to check the result. If the API rejects a value, read the form error and correct it within the ranges above.

Changing the organisation Timezone does not recalculate existing farms’ calendars, due dates or scheduled work. Although the current impact preview says “Farm-day boundaries”, operational farm dates continue to use each farm’s own timezone. Change a farm timezone only from that farm’s configuration and review the operational impact there.

If the saved settings do not load, stop rather than completing the empty/default form. The current page does not present a dedicated load-error state and can still display an editable form. Refresh and confirm the existing values are visible before saving, so a temporary read failure is not mistaken for an unconfigured organisation.

If another administrator saved settings since you opened the page, Farmlync preserves your draft and shows a conflict warning. Copy any values you need, choose Reload latest settings, review the new saved values and reapply only the changes still needed. The button is unavailable until the latest version loads. Avoid repeatedly clicking Save on the stale draft.

For the first-farm order of work, return to Configure organisation and farm defaults and then Set up farm libraries. This page’s organisation defaults are distinct from farm-specific configuration.
