Why use this guide
Section titled “Why use this guide”Breeding connects observed heats, services, pregnancy checks and planned work. Use this guide to keep each observation distinct and see how it changes the next reproductive action.

Open Farm → Breeding for current reproductive work. The overview shows counts and action lists; its services, heats and pregnancy-check records are the evidence behind those numbers. Check an animal’s identity and readiness before recording a service.
The Breeding area also has Services for individual service history and outcome updates, Worklist for due action, Cycle grid for timing, Breeding program for enrolled animals, Fertility protocols for planned work, Analytics and Seasonal report for results, Imports for supported files, and Semen Stock for sires and straws. Choose the page that owns the record you need to create or correct. The overview’s Record menu is a shortcut to the same forms.
Record a heat and a service
Section titled “Record a heat and a service”Use Record → Record Heat and enter the animal, observed date/time and other requested observations. Return to the heat list to verify it. For several animals, Batch Heat is available; review each selected animal before submitting.
Use Record → Record Service for an insemination or natural service. The form asks for Animal, Service Date & Time and Service Type. You may link an existing heat. For AI, select a semen straw from stock or enter the sire and batch details requested. For natural service, select the bull from the herd or provide the requested bull details. Complete Performed by and Notes when relevant. Review readiness or timing warnings before choosing Record Service. A warning or authorisation override is part of the recorded decision, not a reason to change the date to make a form pass.
Open Services or the animal’s Breeding section after saving. The service affects reproductive state and future work. If a submission was rejected, read the reason and use the form’s Re-check and submit as new attempt only after correcting the underlying issue.
Record a pregnancy check and outcome
Section titled “Record a pregnancy check and outcome”From Breeding’s Record menu, choose the pregnancy-check action; select the animal and actual check date, then enter the result. Inspect the service and pregnancy-check history afterward. An open service awaiting a result appears in the work list. Use the available outcome-update action when a service result changes; do not record a second service to represent a pregnancy result. Record an abortion with its own action when applicable.
Plan and review breeding
Section titled “Plan and review breeding”The task links above lead to the form and page controls. Breeding imports covers each CSV column, file mode, validation result and history.
Worklist shows actions due. Cycle grid provides a time view. Breeding program and Fertility protocols help organise selected animals and schedules. Semen Stock manages its own sire catalog and straw batches; it is separate from the four-tab farm library. Entering a sire name in a service is not the same as adding available straws. Follow Set up semen stock before using stock-controlled AI services. Analytics and the Seasonal report summarise recorded data and may depend on the subscription feature. Breeding imports should be mapped, previewed and checked before final submission. Review the source animal records when a number looks wrong.
