Edit a session collection and record milk tests
What these actions help you do
Section titled “What these actions help you do”An Edit Session Collection corrects the measured amount or quality fields of one existing session collection. Record milk test results enters official composition measurements for individual animals on a test day. These are different records: a tank collection describes milk entering a tank, while an animal-day test describes a cow’s sample. Neither action substitutes for a buyer delivery or for milk disposition evidence.
Edit an existing session collection
Section titled “Edit an existing session collection”Open Milk → Milk Collection, locate the date and session, and choose the row’s Edit pencil. The action appears only when the lot is editable. A Verified, Quarantined or Disposed lot, or one reserved for an active delivery, cannot be changed through this ordinary edit. Review the lot’s status and the applicable supervised correction or release flow instead. If someone changed the lot since you opened it, reload and review its latest values before editing.
The slide-over preserves the collection’s date and session. It does not offer a date/session change. It shows the Total Yield in the unit in which that row was recorded, kg or L, even if the farm’s present display setting differs. A historical row without source-unit metadata uses stored kg. Enter a positive corrected amount; the system recalculates canonical kg from the source unit and its applicable density.

The form starts with the current values. Save Changes updates the existing collection; Cancel closes without saving. Empty optional numeric inputs are omitted from the update request, so clearing a displayed value is not a reliable way to remove it. After saving, check the lot’s current verification badge and use Verify this collection or Re-check this collection when its safety evidence needs reassessment. Editing the amount is not a manual override of milk-safety checks.
Enter official animal-day milk tests
Section titled “Enter official animal-day milk tests”On the Milk page choose Lab Results / Record milk test results. This is for a composite sample on a farm-local test date: the day’s AM and PM milkings are represented by one animal/day row. Choose Enter manually or Import CSV. A cow needs a matching active milk-recorded day to appear as a candidate; this panel does not create a missing milking record.
For manual entry, select Farm-local test date (today or earlier). The page loads the complete candidate roster for that day. Use Find tag, name or national ID to narrow the grid, and Previous/Next to move through its 50-row pages. Each row shows animal identity, day’s milk yield and number of milkings. Enter only measured values:

Validate and save submits changed rows that contain at least one measurement. The panel shows how many changed animal/day rows are eligible. The browser sends reviewed rows in sequential chunks of at most 500; this is a request size, not a 500-row limit on the reviewed roster. Outcomes are reported per row. A successful row is retained even if another row fails. Earlier chunks also remain saved if a later request fails, so review the row outcomes and correct or retry only rows that were not saved. An existing official result is marked Official result · edit to correct; editing it uses its current result/version, so a concurrent change requires Reload latest results and re-entering the intended correction. Cancel discards edits that have not been saved.
For CSV, first set Date format in the file to yyyy-MM-dd, dd/MM/yyyy or MM/dd/yyyy, then choose Import CSV. Include both an animal tag column (tag_number, tag, animal_tag, cow_number or cow) and a date column (date, test_date, observed_on or recording_date). Optional columns are sample_ref/provider_ref, fat, protein, lactose, snf, scc and urea; the panel displays a sample header. A row matches only when both tag and farm-local date match an animal/day milk-recording candidate. Review the validation preview and its unmatched, invalid-date or duplicate-row messages; correct the file and Re-import if needed. The preview itself has not saved results. Choose Validate and save after reviewing the matched rows.
Review saved tests
Section titled “Review saved tests”Open the Milk page’s Milk Tests tab. From and To filter test dates; Clear removes them. The list shows 20 results per page with test date, animal, source, fat, protein, lactose, SCC, lactation and days in milk. A source badge distinguishes NMR test-day imports from lab entries. Expand a row with a correction history to inspect superseded values. These official test results can overlay composition values in the everyday Milk Records view, but they do not change the recorded milking yield. For collection-level quality and lot clearance, use Tank collection, milk evidence and release.
