Young-stock growth
What this page helps you do
Section titled “What this page helps you do”Health → Young-stock growth is a worklist for replacement heifers whose recent weights suggest slow growth. It calculates daily live-weight gain (DLWG) between the two latest weight observations, then compares a valid rate with the page’s displayed target. It is a screening aid, not a diagnosis or a breeding decision by itself.
Open Young-stock growth from the Health overview’s View link or the page search. This is a read-only worklist: to add a measurement, open Record → Body Condition / Weight on the Health overview or the animal’s Health area and follow the recording form guide.
Understand who appears
Section titled “Understand who appears”The worklist includes active female animals aged 730 days or less, with a known birth date, no recorded calving, and at least one saved weight. It does not count unweighed young stock as “tracked.” If an expected heifer is missing, check her animal status, birth date, calving history and weight records before drawing a conclusion.

Select Show only heifers below target to narrow the list; clear it to see all tracked cohort animals. The checkbox returns to the first page. Pagination shows 50 animals per page.
Read an animal’s row
Section titled “Read an animal’s row”| Column | Meaning |

| Age | Approximate months shown as age in days divided by 30, plus Pre-weaning, Weaned or Yearling+ age band. This band is an age label, not evidence that a weaning event was recorded. |
| Latest weight | Latest saved body weight and its date, displayed in the farm’s configured weight unit. |
| DLWG | Weight gain divided by the farm-local calendar days between the latest two weighings. The rate is shown per day and, where available, with the number of days used. |
| Status | Needs second weigh when no valid rate is available, Below target for a valid rate under target, or On track otherwise. Open the animal to check the source measurements. |
The calculation accepts a gain strictly greater than 0 and strictly less than 4 kg/day. Same-day weighs, weight loss and implausibly high gain display a dash rather than a rate. A dash needs investigation; it is not zero gain and does not prove an animal is on target. Below-target animals appear first, then slower valid growers, then older animals.
If the page says No young-stock weights yet, it found no qualifying animals with weights. If the below-target filter says No heifers below target, it means no calculated rate is below target; animals awaiting a second or valid weighing may still need attention. If data cannot load, the page shows no counts and offers Try again.
