Batch treatment

Use Batch Treatment when several active animals received the same treatment at the same farm-local time, for the same condition, with the same medicines, course, performer, notes and follow-up. Farmlync creates an individual treatment record for every successful animal and groups them under one batch identity.

Do not use one batch when animals received different medicines, doses, times, withdrawal instructions or clinical findings. Record those animals separately so each history remains factual.

You can open Batch Treatment from:

  • Health → Treatments → Batch Treatment, then choose animals in the panel;
  • Animals list, after selecting animals, then Batch Treatment;
  • compatible selected work in Today’s Work or execution mode; or
  • the failed-treatment outcome workflow when several animals must be switched to another drug. In that case, Farmlync preselects the failed animals and preserves each animal’s link to its own previous treatment.

Only a user with permission to record treatments can save the batch. The server applies the same treatment permission as individual recording: Owner, Manager or Vet.

The Select Animals section shows the current selected count.

  • A batch opened from the Animals list, selection tray or work list starts with those animals. Review the banner and any skipped selections.
  • Add animals by group adds the members returned for the chosen group and avoids animals already selected.
  • Add an individual animal searches by tag or name. Selecting an animal adds it as a pill and clears the search for the next animal.
  • Select the remove control on an animal pill to take that animal out before saving.

At least one animal is required. A request can contain at most 500 unique animals. The final server check accepts only active animals belonging to the selected farm; an inactive, missing or otherwise invalid animal appears as an individual failure.

The panel opens in Quick Record. These values apply to every selected animal.

Field/control Required input, meaning and limits
Treatment Date and Time Required. Actual administration instant in the farm’s timezone. It starts with now; Set to now resets it. The time anchors withdrawal calculations.
Disease Required, up to 200 characters. Select an adopted disease or commit a one-off description. A selected catalogue item also supplies its code.
Drug Required. Select an available Medicine product or Custom drug (manual entry). Product selection may fill saved dosage, route, course and withdrawal defaults; check them against this batch.
Drug name Required only for a custom drug, up to 200 characters. It does not create an inventory product.
Dosage Required instruction text, up to 100 characters. It describes the recorded dose; it does not by itself calculate stock use.
Route Optional: Oral, Intramuscular, Intravenous, Subcutaneous, Topical or Intramammary.
Deduct from inventory Available for a linked product. The preview multiplies the per-animal course quantity by the selected animal count. Confirm the stock unit and total before saving.
Administered by Optional until a performer role is chosen; once a role is chosen, select or enter the actual person. Roles are Farmer, Staff, Veterinarian or Other person. The name can be up to 200 characters.
Notes Shared factual notes for every treatment. Keep the value within the server’s 1,000-character limit.
More details → Opens medicine-course, withdrawal, cost and follow-up controls. Existing quick values remain.
Treat n Animals Submits the shared details for the displayed animal count. Review the count immediately before selecting it.
Cancel Closes without recording the unsaved batch.

The batch form does not attach treatments to an animal treatment case. If case membership is required, use the individual treatment workflow.

Select More details → to add up to 20 medicine lines. Each line has its own medicine, dose, route, course, withdrawal and stock settings; all selected animals receive the same set of lines.

Field/control Meaning
+ Add Medicine Adds another medicine line. Remove deletes an unsaved line; at least one line remains.
Days Whole number at least 1; defaults to 1.
Times per day Whole number at least 1; defaults to 1.
Units per dose Whole number at least 1; defaults to 1. This is the inventory-unit multiplier for one administration.
Administrations Calculated per animal as Days × Times per day.
Total quantity Calculated per animal as Days × Times per day × Units per dose. The batch preview multiplies this by the selected count.
Planned dose per administration and Dose unit Optional pair. Enter both or neither. Amount must be positive, no more than 9,999,999.999 and have no more than three decimal places. It records the planned clinical amount separately from inventory units.
Milk withdrawal and unit Optional non-negative whole days or hours. Hours can be 0–2,400.
Withdrawal Meat / Organic / Other Optional non-negative whole days for each restriction. Blank means no figure was supplied in that field; it does not mean a known zero.
Is Antibiotic Marks that medicine as an antibiotic and shows the milk-withdrawal warning. Check the actual product evidence.
Batch / Lot Number Optional, up to 100 characters, when stock is not supplying the batch.
Drug Expiry Date The control is displayed for a manual medicine, but the current batch request does not retain this manually entered expiry. Maintain expiry on the inventory batch and retain the source evidence.
Deduct from inventory When enabled, sends the per-animal quantity for that medicine. The allocation preview shows proposed stock batches and total demand.

The batch UI records direct withdrawal figures. It does not expose the individual treatment form’s full authorised use / cascade use declaration and evidence controls. If that declaration is required for a medicine, record the treatments individually using Record a treatment.

Field Meaning
Administered by The performer stamped on every successful animal’s treatment.
Total batch cost Non-negative amount for the whole batch, with at most two decimal places. Farmlync allocates it across the animals that actually succeed, in whole cents. Stock-valued medicine cost remains tied to the stock consumed.
Notes Same note on every successful animal, up to 1,000 characters.
+ Add Follow-up Shows the shared follow-up date and type. The suggested date may use the first medicine’s duration; confirm it before saving.
Follow-up Date Date of intended future work for each successful animal.
Follow-up Type Recheck, Booster vaccine, PD check, Blood test, Lab result or General. It creates planned work, not proof that the follow-up occurred.
Remove Clears the follow-up date and type from this unsaved batch.

For each successful animal, Farmlync creates its own treatment and medicine lines. Required stock consumption and milk-withdrawal effects are committed with those treatments.

  • Stock demand is the per-animal course quantity multiplied by the number of successful animals.
  • A normal stock shortfall can still leave the clinical fact recorded with a stock shortfall to investigate. Insufficient controlled-substance stock refuses the batch before it is saved.
  • Every medicine’s restrictions contribute to the animal’s effective hold. A shorter new withdrawal does not cancel a longer existing one.
  • If some animals fail validation, the Total batch cost is divided only across the successful animals, so failed animals are not charged a share.

Do not turn off stock deduction to avoid a withdrawal. Inventory movement and food-chain restriction are separate effects.

After submission, Farmlync reports successes and failures per animal.

  • If every animal succeeds, the panel closes after showing the success notification.
  • If some animals fail, the result view stays open and lists each failed animal and reason.
  • Retry failed animals now resubmits only those failures with the same shared values. Correct the underlying issue first; already successful animals are not submitted again.
  • Closing a partial result finishes the batch with its successful records intact. The failed animals remain untreated in Farmlync until separately resolved.

Common per-animal failures include an inactive/missing animal or an existing treatment for the same disease on the same farm-local day. A shared validation error—such as invalid medicine data or an unresolved withdrawal declaration—refuses the whole request before any animal is saved.

  1. Open Health → Treatments and find the batch date and disease.
  2. Confirm that each reported success has its own treatment row and correct medicine lines.
  3. Check effective milk/meat holds for every treated animal, especially when recording a past administration.
  4. Review stock movements and investigate a shortfall or unexpected allocation.
  5. Confirm the allocated costs and any follow-up work.
  6. Resolve each reported failure rather than assuming the entire selection succeeded.

Use the treatment and withdrawal follow-up guide to record outcomes or correct a saved clinical record without creating a misleading duplicate.
