Mastitis records

What this page helps you do

Health → Mastitis is the farm’s register of detected mastitis cases. It records the animal, finding and optional laboratory details. A mastitis case and a medicine treatment are separate records: linking an existing treatment here does not create one, and recording a case does not give medicine or release milk from a withdrawal hold.

Find and inspect a case

The list opens on a rolling last 90 days of the farm’s dates. Choose Severity (Mild, Moderate or Severe), From and To to narrow it. Show all removes the default window; Clear filters returns to the default list. A blank result may mean the case falls outside the chosen dates. The list shows 20 cases per page.

Column	Meaning
Date	Detection date in the farm’s timezone.
Animal	Tag/name and identity link to that animal’s record.
Type, Severity	Clinical or Subclinical, and Mild/Moderate/Severe as recorded. These are case classifications, not a diagnosis inferred by Farmlync.
Quarter	The selected affected udder quarter, if recorded.
SCC	Entered somatic cell count, if present. A dash means no value was recorded.
Pathogen	Entered pathogen result, if present.
Actions	Open Correct or History for that case.

On mobile, tap a case card to reveal culture result and notes, then its Correct and History actions. If the list fails to load, use the retry control.

Record a case

Choose Record Mastitis. The form separates case details, clinical findings and an optional link to an existing treatment.

Field	What to enter
Animal	Required affected animal. When opened from an animal record, the animal is preselected and locked. Check the identity before saving.
Detection Date	Required farm-local date when the case was detected. The form starts at today; change it for an earlier observation.
Mastitis Type	Required Clinical or Subclinical, chosen from the page’s list.
Severity	Required Mild, Moderate or Severe. Record the assessed severity rather than guessing from a missing test.
Affected Quarter	Optional LF, RF, LR or RR. Leave blank if not known.
Somatic Cell Count	Optional non-negative whole number. The form rejects decimals and negative values.
Culture Result	Optional laboratory finding, at most 500 characters.
Pathogen	Optional identified organism, at most 200 characters.
Notes	Optional clinical context, at most 1,000 characters.
Linked treatment	Optional saved treatment for the selected animal. Choose one only if it actually belongs to this case. The selector loads that animal’s treatments; if loading fails, retry before making a link.

Choose Save Mastitis Record and wait for the success message. The form stays open with an error message if the save fails. Cancel closes it without saving. If medicine was given, use the treatment form and check the animal’s withdrawal state before allowing milk into the saleable tank.

Correct a saved case

Use Correct on the case’s row or card. The animal cannot be changed. Enter Reason for correction in at least 5 and at most 500 characters, then review the dated case fields and select Save Correction. The correction uses the version you opened; if another person has changed the case, reload and review the latest record before trying again.

Use History to review earlier values and the reason for a correction. Corrections are retained in the clinical audit history. Do not create a second case merely to fix a typo in an existing one.
