Body condition and weight

What this page helps you do

Health → Body condition shows the latest recorded condition score for each scored animal, lowest first. It helps you find animals needing another look. An animal that has never been scored does not appear in this list. A weight can be recorded in the same form, but weight alone does not create a body-condition score.

Review the body-condition roster

Choose All or one score band: Under 2.5, 2.5–3.0, 3.0–3.5, 3.5–4.0, or Over 4.0. The bands are based on each animal’s latest score; the lower bound of a numbered band is included and its upper bound belongs to the next band. Changing bands returns to page one. The roster has 25 animals per page.

Each row gives the animal link, Score, Band, Scored date and Days since that score. Dates and elapsed days use the farm’s calendar. Open the animal to review its history; this roster does not offer an inline edit control. The Health overview has a herd distribution that also counts unscored animals, whereas this roster only lists animals with a saved score. A blank filtered band does not mean the whole herd has been scored.

Record body condition or weight

From the Health overview choose Record → Body Condition / Weight, or open the recording action from an animal’s Health area. The panel is titled Record Body Condition / Weight.

Control	What to enter
Animal	Required. Choose the animal you actually assessed. If opened from that animal’s record, the choice is preselected and locked.
Record Date	Required farm-local date of the assessment; defaults to today.
Body Condition Score	Optional only when Weight is entered. Accepted range 1.0–5.0, in 0.25 steps such as 3.00 or 3.25.
Weight (kg)	Optional only when Body Condition Score is entered. Accepted range 0.1–999.9 kg. Enter the measured or estimated weight in kilograms.
Weight Method	Optional Scale, Tape estimate or Visual, offered by the page. Use the method that produced the weight; do not label an estimate as a scale reading.
Performed by	Optional performer role and person. Choices include Farmer, Staff, Veterinarian and Other person. If you choose a role, identify the person; the picker can use a matching farm user or saved Vet party where available.
Notes	Optional context, at most 1,000 characters.

At least one of Body Condition Score or Weight is required; you may enter both. Check the animal, units and date, then choose Save Record. The success message confirms the saved assessment. Cancel closes the unsaved form. If a save fails, the error appears in the panel; review it before retrying.

Weight observations feed Young-stock growth when the animal belongs to its cohort. A single weigh does not establish a daily growth rate. Body-condition score and weight measure different things; do not infer one from the other.
