Audit Logs — find and inspect a change
Admin portal → Audit Logs helps a Tenant Admin or Platform Admin trace actions within the selected organisation. Farm Owners and Managers can currently see the Admin menu link, but the audit service does not grant them access. Check the selected tenant before interpreting an empty result, especially when working as a Platform Admin. Times are displayed in the timezone named at the top of the page; if tenant units are unavailable, the page uses UTC.
Filter and sort the list
Section titled “Filter and sort the list”Select Filters to show or hide the filter panel. Action and Entity type are searchable dropdowns: type at least two characters, then select a matching value. Typing alone does not apply a filter. The choices come from the audit filter-options response; they are not arbitrary text searches. If both dropdowns remain empty while the log itself loads, reload the page—the current screen does not show a separate filter-options error.
From and To use date/time pickers. If you choose a date without a time, the current request uses 00:00:00 for From and 23:59:59 for To. The displayed timezone is not yet attached to those submitted bounds, and sub-second events in the last displayed second can fall outside a date-only To value. Until this is corrected, widen the range by one day when investigating records close to midnight and verify the exact timestamp in the detail panel. Clear all filters resets the selected action, entity and date bounds. The Filters button shows an indicator while any filter is active.
The table has 20 entries per page. Click a sortable Timestamp, Action, Entity, User or IP Address heading to change server-side order across the result set; Details is not sortable. Changing a filter or sort returns to page one. The page fetches fresh rows when reopened, so a newly created audit entry need not require a hard browser reload. An error banner means the query failed; No audit logs found matching your filters means the current result set is empty.
Read a row and its detail
Section titled “Read a row and its detail”| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Timestamp | When the action occurred, formatted for the displayed audit timezone. |
| Action | A readable action label and badge, such as a registration or update. |
| Entity | Entity type, plus an animal tag/name or user name/email when resolved. |
| User | Actor’s name or email when recorded, otherwise System. |
| Details | A short summary of up to three meaningful fields or changed values. System columns are omitted; a reference may appear as a shortened ID if no readable label is available. |
| IP Address | Recorded address, or a dash when absent. |
Select a row to open its detail slide-over. The header gives a readable event title and time. The identity block shows Audit ID, Who, optional actor email, Action, Entity, optional Entity ID, animal reference and IP address. What changed shows the detailed value comparison when available. Use the full IDs in this panel for investigation; the list intentionally prioritises readable names. The audit page is for inspection and does not edit or undo the underlying record.
