Milk production and quality reports

These three dairy reports answer different questions. Milk Production Summary totals recorded milk over dates you choose. Herd summary compares the latest and historical milk tests for cows in active lactation. SCC report reviews cows with a recent SCC-sampled day against a threshold you choose. Open them from Operations → Reports → Browse all reports. Check the current farm before comparing or sharing figures.

These pages are for reviewing and sharing existing records; they do not create or correct milk records. Milk by lactation is a separate parity-band comparison and is explained with Predicted lactation value.

Use this page for a daily and per-cow account of recorded milk. The Report range defaults to the last seven farm-local calendar days, including today. The Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days and Last 365 days chips reset both dates. From and To let you choose an inclusive custom range of at most 366 days. The preview reloads as the dates change. If either date is missing or To is before From, correct the range to see the preview. A range longer than 366 days is rejected by the server even though the page does not prevent you from selecting it.

Download PDF generates a print/shareable report; Download XLSX generates a spreadsheet. Each contains a cover summary, daily totals and per-cow totals for the selected dates. Generation may take a moment; a success or error message appears afterward. Downloads are unavailable in a read-only support session. A preview failure does not by itself prove that a download will fail.

Preview item How to read it
Total milk Sum of active, non-deleted milk recordings whose recording date falls in the selected range. A late-entered recording belongs to its milking date, not the date it was entered.
Days Number of calendar days in the inclusive range, including days with no recordings.
Cows Animals with a recording in the range that Farmlync can still resolve for the per-cow breakdown. This is not the whole milking herd.
Avg / cow / day Total milk divided by the displayed contributing-cow count and by all calendar days in the range. It is not the average on only the days each cow was milked.
Avg / day Total milk divided by all calendar days in the range, including zero-recording days.

The Daily production trend appears when the range has at least two days. Blue bars show each day’s total; the teal line shows a trailing seven-day average. At the start of the range, that line averages only the days available so far. Point to a day to see its total, number of cows and trailing average. The report uses the farm’s effective milk unit and density setting for display.

Daily totals has one row for every selected calendar day, even when nothing was recorded. Its columns are Date, Total, Cows milked (distinct animal identifiers recorded that day) and Avg / cow (that day’s total divided by its cow count). Per cow totals lists each resolvable contributing animal, its total, number of recorded sessions and average per session. It starts with the highest total. Use Search animal… to find a cow; both tables show 25 rows per page. A zero day or a cow missing from the per-cow table means you should check the underlying records before treating it as zero production. Daily and headline milk totals come from milk records; the per-cow table additionally requires the animal identity to resolve.

Use this dairy-only page for a milk-test snapshot to discuss with a vet, nutritionist or co-op. It has no date or threshold selector: it uses all active, non-voided milk-test records associated with each active lactation. Cows tested shows cows represented by those records of the current active-lactation count. A value such as “1 of 3” is test coverage, not a one-cow herd. If none has a test, the page still shows the coverage cards and then says that no milk tests are recorded for active lactations.

The other headline cards are Latest-test total (sum of each represented cow’s most recent test yield), Avg fat / protein (herd percentages weighted by each cow’s total recorded yield), Avg SCC (average of available per-cow SCC averages) and Solids (fat / protein) (sum of estimated component kilograms from recorded yield and average component percentage). These are test-based measures. The latest record can be from a different date for each cow, so do not read Latest-test total as today’s complete milk recording.

The virtualised cow table is ordered by highest recent-test yield and scrolls within the page. Animal also shows breed. Lact is lactation number; DIM is days in milk from lactation start to today in farm-local time; Tests is the number of active milk-test records in that lactation. Recent gives the latest test yield and date; Fat / Prot and SCC are that recent test’s composition and cell count. Best and Worst give the highest and lowest test yields with dates. Solids (F/P) gives estimated fat and protein kilograms for the lactation’s recorded tests. A dash indicates a value was not available, rather than zero.

Use this dairy-only page to review cows with a recent somatic-cell sample. The Threshold (cells/mL) buttons are 150k, 200k, 300k and 400k; the default is 200k. Changing the threshold reloads the report and recalculates the flags and counts. The table includes all qualifying sampled cows, not only those above the threshold. Cows whose latest value is equal to or above the threshold are listed first, highest latest SCC first, and highlighted.

The report includes active lactations whose latest SCC-sampled day is on or after the date 60 farm-local days before today. Its Cows sampled card counts those cows. Over threshold counts cows whose latest SCC is at least the selected threshold and shows their percentage of sampled cows. Chronic (avg over) counts cows whose active-lactation SCC average is at least that threshold; it is a report flag, not a diagnosis. Herd avg SCC averages the latest SCC values of included cows; its LS hint averages their linear scores. None of these cards includes an active cow without a qualifying recent SCC day.

In the table, Animal identifies the cow and breed; Lact and DIM describe her current lactation; Latest SCC includes its date. LS is the linear score derived from that latest SCC. Avg and Peak use the complete SCC-sampled history of the active lactation, including sample days older than the 60-day latest-result cut-off. Tests counts distinct SCC-sampled dates; where several qualifying records exist on one date, Farmlync uses that date’s highest SCC as its daily value. Status is Chronic when the lactation average reaches the threshold, otherwise High when the latest result reaches it, otherwise OK. On a narrow screen the cards retain the latest SCC, LS, average, lactation and DIM; Peak and Tests are in the wider table. If no active lactation has a qualifying recent sample, the page currently says no SCC samples are recorded even when older samples exist.

The SCC page helps prioritize follow-up; use the animal’s test and health records before deciding on treatment or milk handling. For how to record and correct milk data, see Milk recording and Tank collection and safety.
