Farm performance and labour costs
Why use this guide
Section titled “Why use this guide”Farm performance combines production and cost measures for management review. Use it to inspect the assumptions behind a headline figure and to enter labour costs where the page supports them.
Open Manage → Farm performance dashboard for the selected farm. This page combines recorded milk yield, milk revenue, feed, drug, vet and labour costs, net margin, and an estimated time-saved figure over the last 30 days. It reads the records from other areas; it is not a place to correct a cow’s milk yield, a feed event or a medicine use. Check the farm shown in the portal before interpreting the figures.
Check the source of a figure
Section titled “Check the source of a figure”Under Where these figures come from, use Milk price for the price assumption, Labour costs for weekly entries, Feed costs for recorded feeding and Seasonal effect for the weather comparison. A missing or implausible figure should be traced to its source screen first. The Refresh control requests current results after a source record has changed. A dash means Farmlync cannot calculate that KPI from the available records; do not read it as zero.
The dashboard shows Milk yield, Milk revenue, Net margin and Time saved, followed by yield, revenue and cost charts. Use the same period and unit when comparing figures. Time saved is an estimate based on counts of recorded operations and assumed minutes per operation, not a measurement of staff hours. Open How is time saved estimated? for the calculation breakdown before using that figure in a business case.
Enter labour cost
Section titled “Enter labour cost”Choose Quick-log labour from the performance page, or open Manage → Labour costs and choose the same action. Select Week starting (Monday), enter the non-negative Amount in the organisation’s currency, add optional notes explaining the work, and save. The entry feeds net margin and the Cost mix chart. Use a completed week and check the payroll or contractor evidence; entering a cost twice will overstate expenses.
The Labour costs page offers Last 12 weeks and Last 52 weeks history. Find the week in the list. Edit changes its amount and notes; choose Save or Cancel. Delete asks for confirmation and removes that weekly entry. Revisit Farm performance after a change to see the recalculated view. These controls are hidden in a read-only support view.
Review seasonal effect
Section titled “Review seasonal effect”From Farm performance, choose Seasonal effect. Change the time window and use Refresh when you need a new comparison. The page compares recorded milk yield with historical temperature-humidity index (THI), showing heat-stress days, severe-stress days and charts. It needs the farm’s latitude and longitude: if the page asks for coordinates, add them in Farm Settings and reload. Historical weather can lag by about two days, so the newest chart point may not be today. A correlation is a comparison, not proof that weather caused a yield change.
For a repeatable monthly review, follow Review farm performance.
